OK good, I suspected we called zil_commit too much, it might help a tiny fraction with writing small files as well, but probably not enough to measure.

It will do nothing for very large IOs though (like writing gigs to a single file)

Just wanted to add my two cents--the dec 18 master is overall much faster and consistent with TB+ writes.

What are the current arc size recommendations? I haven't done much experimenting yet other than with 'unlimited' / ~34GB and 1GB arc sizes. When not limited overall write speed is more consistent. When the arc size is limited the peak write speed is higher but there is some spiking. Seems best to leave it as it is at install.
