Upgrading to 2.1.6 and 2.7.rc3 brings warnings

Postby nixota » Sat Oct 21, 2023 9:01 am

Hello,

I just upgraded the OpenZFS on a macOS Catalina 10.15.7 from vs. 2.1.0 to 2.1.6 and then to 2.7.rc3.

When in CLI and asking for $ zpool --version the system brings back a stack trace with a list of warnings.

I attach here n.2 screenshots of them.

1. VS. 2.1.6 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QjxRR74sefXEbBJGVS24sT-zmxu-597k/view?usp=share_link
2. Vs. 2.7.rc3 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fjGBJy7GjSTs9DnPa46Qvou5rDIyjleR/view?usp=share_link

Questions:
A. what should I do for those warning messages?
B. is it safe to use OpenZFS in such conditions with a data pool?

Thank you in advance, BR

en_VA? Is your locale somehow set to…Vatican City English? I don't think this is related to ZFS at all, I think your shell settings are weird and you probably need to follow instructions like these or similar.

Oh my! Thank you very much, you're right: I just upgraded the MacOS vs. and somehow some system config parameters have been set incorrectly. To solve it I just had to write in the .bashrc file:

$ export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

and all the previous warnings disappeared.

OpenZFSonOSX vs. 2.1.7-rc3 is just fine now.

Thank you again, BR
