Finalcut Pro 10.5.4 capture not working

Postby mike0810 » Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:15 am

The Finalcut Pro 10.5.4 Capture does not work with the zfs-macOS-2.1.0rc3 release. It worked earlier, I can confirm, with the earlier Finalcut 10.5.3.

When capturing from camera, the movies do not get listed in the event. They are however, in the "Original Media" Folder inside the Library Package -> Event Subfolder.
I tried with mimic=hfs and apfs and off, no change in behaviour.

Look at this Feedback I wrote to Apple: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/feedback/9494064

However its unlikely, Apple will do anything about it thus I write here as well, because Media management is one of the big use cases of openzfs.

OK so

Finalcut Pro 10.5.3 Capture + zfs-macOS-2.1.0rc3 = OK
Finalcut Pro 10.5.4 Capture + zfs-macOS-2.1.0rc3 = NG (No Good)

Hey, I have to admit, I do not know.

Last successful capture to Openzfs was 4.June 2020. So whichever combination was in place then, it worked.

I think it was FCP 10.4.x and 1.9.4 ZFS as well as macos 10.15.x

The fun thing is though, capture from file works, only from DV in via camera does not work.

I would be happy to help debugging,

Yeah I can't run Finalcut in the VMs, due to lacking gfx hw accelleration.

The best thing you could do is;

* get everything ready so the next step is to do the task that fails
* sysctl kstat.zfs.darwin.tunable.zfs_flags=1
* make problem happen
* sudo log show --last 10m --source --predicate 'sender == "zfs"' --style compact > fulllog.txt

Assuming it takes less than 10mins to trigger the issue :)

Upload fulllog.txt
