Recommendation for new disk for direct attached pool

Hi, well I guess my plans to expand my pool just got forced on me by a failed WD Green disk. Or maybe failing? I am getting checksum errors, so OpenZFS removed it from the pool.

I've currently got a mirrored pair of WD 1.5TB Green drives, which to be fair are probably 11 years old at this point!

So, I am going to buy a new pair of disks. Question is, what?

My usage is for:
- direct attached only, currently only weekend use
- currently inserted directly into my Mac Pro. I will probably go external at some point, but for the moment I'm keeping my Mac Pro alive until I can assess the Atom based mac lineup and make a leap then.
- only need two disks. will be mirrored
- I will probably at least double the individual disk capacity to 4TB (8TB total).

I've had good success with Seagate, and I guess Western Digital too. 11 years isn't bad. I have seen 'red' drives that are made for NAS. For direct storage though where these aren't necessarily going to be running more than a weekend at a time, would it be best to go with a faster drive? Or maybe just green drives again?

Well, I can't tell you what to buy, but I can tell you what to watch out for (and not buy):
