a client hangs trying to mount a shared file system

a client hangs trying to mount a shared file system

Postby antikus » Sat Dec 28, 2019 4:51 pm

Guys,

I've been using ZFS for a while, but recently I ran into a problem I cannot figure out. I had an old pool that I moved over to a new set of drives recently via send/recv. I'm sharing some of the filesystems on the pool over SMB to other computers. Everything works. Now I went ahead and a created a new filesystem on the pool and attempted to share it as well. My other computers hang when trying to mount that filesystem. I cannot figure out why one fs shares and mounts fine and the other hangs the client machine. I compared fs properties -- they look the same. I compared user permission assignment on the fs -- they look the same. I checked the MacOS sharing options -- the same. What am I missing? Thank you.

zfs version 1.9.2
server runs macOS 10.13
clients run macOS 10.14 and 10.15

Those properties don't have much to do with sharing. You could check the "sharing" command, I think there is an "-l" to list volumes. Could be a permissions thing, you have "chmod 777" on the new dataset to rule that out?
