Dropbox WARNING about non-HFS/APFS destinations

I've been running Dropbox from a ZFS pool on my system for years now. I've never had any issues, and it's been resident on filesystems without HFS emulation and (currently) with HFS emulation turned on. I rebooted my machine yesterday for some standard updates and when Dropbox restarted I got a warning that Dropbox in an upcoming version would disable support for non-HFS/APFS volumes. Surely I'm not the only one who has this use case?

I know I can work around it with a sparse bundle image but between Time Machine and now Dropbox I'm having to containerize the heck out of my storage just to make it play nice with ZFS. Any simpler solutions?
