Using Dropbox Negate ZFS bitrot protection?

The main appeal of ZFS for me is protection against bitrot due to checksuming of files. However, I store many important files in dropbox. I realize that if I link my dropbox to another computer that has the dropbox folder on a non-ZFS disk, I could potentially introduce bitrot when I edit files that would be synced onto my ZFS enabled system. However, if I only access my dropbox files from my computer with ZFS, can bitrot still occur? For example, if dropbox's servers corrupt a file, would it be synced to my computer and over-write a good copy of the file?

I might suggest having a separate dataset for your Dropbox files.... And snap it.... A lot
