For multi-disk use cases there's just no substitute for ZFS...

I only said "not yet". Not "no".

Oh it works, it just seems twitchy.

Would it be possible to define "twitchy"?

I understand there's no guarantees - especially when using something as complex as OpenZFS - with running an OS in beta, but I'm just wondering if it's "a bit turbulent" (occasional crashes and performance hiccups) or "might blow away your datasets"

I had a panic, but it seemed unrelated to ZFS, so perhaps just part of the beta testing. If you want to try it, you might get panics, you should not lose any data. In theory

Always have a backup.

Much appreciated - I'll probably give it a go in the next week.

I'm in the process of setting up my test machine with one of the public betas, so that I can run the test suite. That will give us some sense of where its at.

Mostly successful test run, does not look too bad. No panics experienced so far.
That will teach me, second run didn't go as well, test scripts seemed to get stuck, ymmv. Subsequent runs a bit all over the place. Looks to me like it works, a few things need to be looked into though.
Note: this is master built from the repository, SIP off etc. Haven't looked at the installer.
