Hi,

it was a Deadlock without zfs loaded, its about the deadlock in IO Kit you mentioned before.

ok, no our deadlock is ZFS getting itself wrapped around the axle when interacting with IOKit. It would be evident within the dump if that is what happened. ZFS has to be loaded to be involved in any incident on the machine.

Thanks for posting though.

Cheers

I upgraded to 10.12 by cloning my 10.11.6 SSD (with zfs running) to a new SSD and then updating that cloned SSD to 10.12.
I forgot that zfs was installed on the new boot drive but after a few days it was showing some err messages in the /var/log files so I decided to uninstall using the script in Docs and Scripts. I exported the zfs drive and then ran the uninstall script from terminal but it threw a few error messages about loaded kexts, etc. I tried manually unloading the kexts but that gave an error about not being found too so I hunted down the zfs.kxt, deleted it, rebooted, and then ran the uninstaller again and the uninstall proceeded normally to the end.
Since work is slow I'll think I'll leave the raidz as is and unmounted until the next version supporting 10.12 is released.

I'm dead in the water now until a Sierra patch. I started a scrub and now when the external disk powered up with the zpool, the box crashes as soon as zfs starts its work.

Box is running but external zpool disks powered down for now :(

We haven't really found any large incompatibilities with Sierra, there is a deadlock that can happen on unmount, and we found a small leak of memory which can affect long term running systems.

If you have problems, you should report them now

Sounds like you uninstalled it ok, what happens if you install it? Panic? crash? core dumps?

Still installed. I just turned off the power to the disk array which is attached USB3. I can try uninstalling 1.5.2 and reinstall but I think I did this already.

I recall having a simular issue last year when OS was updated. Scrub caused it to crash very much like I have now until 1.5.2 came out.

Before I issued the scrub It was running with crash after some time before the scrub but now it boots, mounts and crashes pritty much. I have tried to cancle the scrub but I seem to crash before command takes effect.

Go figure .. I have this running now. I did not updates to OS or ZFS

sysctl {spl,zfs}.kext_version
spl.kext_version: 1.5.2-1
zfs.kext_version: 1.5.2-1

Ill try some load tests and see what happens but on the 7th when I did the scrub the system was unstable.

Perhaps I have some ZFS Gnomes in my computer :)

Ok I'm not going through the boot up - crash - boot up crash anymore...which is nice.
I still have the frozen box issue where apps stop responding. I presume this is something to do with the other issues mentioned elsewhere.

Not being an OSX developer I do not know people here might need from my PC. I see noting in /cores

Box did not crash but I had to press hold the power button to get it usable again. Just let me know what you want and ill post it.
