Boom! (In a good way.)

That imported my encrypted pool, loaded keys and mounted. Happy days!

I've had to test on a different bit of physical kit (MBP running Monterey 12.6 x86) because my VM isn't playing nice.

Just going to try again on my VM as that is on a different CPU (Xeon vs i5)...

That's great! I'll let you test for a bit, and then we can do an RC2.

Working on the VM now as well. Two encrypted pools imported.

I'll build a new, clean/empty pool on Linux and then load it up with some stuff and thrash it about with O3X 2.1.6RC2.

I'll report back a bit later.

Well, it seems to be going well enough.

Pushing though a few 100Gbs of files and such. Bulk adds and deletes. Exporting and importing encyrputed pools.

Nothing has blown up yet. :)

One thing though... attempting to export the pool while emptying the trash, resulted in:
Code: Select all
% sudo zpool export testroot
Unmount failed for /Volumes/Data
umount(/Volumes/Data): Resource busy -- try 'diskutil unmount'
cannot unmount '/Volumes/Data': empty component or misplaced '@' or '#' delimiter in name

Which is fine... the resource is busy, but the "empty component or misplaced '@' or '#' delimiter in name" is a bit odd.

Thanks for giving it a go. I'll roll out a RC2 quickly, so others don't have encryption problems.

The rogue error message is unfortunate.

Happy to help out. BTW, is there somewhere we can donate to help support [those involved in] the development?

Hey, I have a question: what should the version number show up as when these RCs are installed? I ask because on my Monterey (I haven't tried it on Ventura yet, though I'm just about to), RC1 still reports itself as 2.1.99 - but I know it's installed properly because it shows my pools needing upgrades for new feature flags, when they did not need upgrades with the previous 2.1.99 builds.

Actually, I guess I won't really be trying it on Ventura _too_ soon, because what I get after installing it on my Mac Studio on a completely fresh macOS 13 and trying to load it (I'm never prompted to approve it in the Security panel, or to reboot to rebuild the kext cache) is this:
Code: Select all
admin@MacStudio ~ % sudo /sbin/kextload /Library/Extensions/zfs.kext
Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/zfs.kext
Error Domain=KMErrorDomain Code=30 "Validating extension failed: Kext org.openzfsonosx.zfs v2.1.6rc2 in executable kext bundle org.openzfsonosx.zfs at /private/var/db/KernelExtensionManagement/Staging/org.openzfsonosx.zfs.Pzthia/zfs.kext:

Woah hmm so it's not happy with the plist in the kext? Which binary file did you download? You could also remove the old version first.

"zpool version" will tell you what is running.

I had installed 2.1.6rc2 (the Ventura binary) on a completely fresh Ventura (13.0, not 13.1 beta or anything) when I got that result; nothing has been installed on it before, at all.
