2.0 RC-7 Big Sur "The ZFS modules are not loaded."

Postby FunMiles » Tue May 18, 2021 7:44 am

I installed rc-7 under big sur and my first attempt at importing my pool failed:
Code: Select all
michel@Michels-MacBook-Pro ~ % sudo zpool import quicksand
The ZFS modules are not loaded.
Try running '/sbin/kextload zfs.kext' as root to load them.

The suggestion does not look for the extension in the right place, however, a modified version of the suggestion does work however:
Code: Select all
 sudo /sbin/kextload /Library/Extensions/zfs.kext

I rebooted for good measure, but the same thing happened. I have to manually load the module.
Is there an easy way to fix this locally?

PS: Now zfs send/recv do work which is a great thing for me!

It seems to have something to do with the Approve process when you "update". I think if you do the trigger-panic-medic, install, then make sure to click Approve.
