Apple Silicon support

Postby cevapi » Tue Dec 08, 2020 2:40 am

Hi!

I am wondering what is current status of Apple Silicon support?

My Mac Pro died two days ago, and I need a replacement with ZFS support ASAP.
I see that Big Sur support is still in development, but is it worthwhile going to Apple Silicon instead of Intel?
Or Intel Big Sur support will be ready much sooner?

Thanks.

Intel you can run now, with some tweaking. ARM I'm not having much luck with, currently waiting for XNU sources to be released.

It looks like the XNU sources for Big Sur were released recently.

Any news on Apple Silicon ?

Reading a bit on OWC SoftRAID forum I found :
Code: Select all
If this is an M1, did you do this:

https://support.apple.com/en-lk/guide/mac-help/mchl768f7291/mac
Select reduced security and enable this:
Select the “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers” checkbox to allow installation of software that uses legacy kernel extensions.

Did you "Allow" OWC as a identified developer?

Could that help you in any way ?
