I can confirm the panic but right now I'm too busy to attempt a new install.

Edit: Now this is one of the twistier plot twists I've ever experienced: found myself some time, messed with my boot parameters, and `-v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100` make the panic not happen.

It is likely to be the assembler work, I wonder if I can make a version with it disabled and allow them to be enabled after boot

Taking a random guess here and removing movbe support as well, posted the 8th build.

Any more crashes with the 8th build?
Is it safe to install and use with a single disk pool?

Its probably not stable enough if you need to rely on it day-to-day, but YMMV.

You can follow some of the fun over here.

Thanks. I've been following some of that. As I've reported there, I've had my laptop crash at login...
My problem is that I rely on ZFS for doing my backups. Using a pair of external SSDs, doing rsync to them only takes 2 to 5 minutes for a backup and cloning incremental snapshots to a ZFS with 5 disks and 2 disk of redundancy is my way of doing things. Unfortunately, I upgraded my laptop to Big Sur a bit too quickly. So I haven't had a backup in a while.
I appreciate all the work you guys do.
