According to this article: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/10 ... iew/10/#h2 Apple is beginning to deprecate .kexts in future versions of macOS.

In the future drivers have to use DriverKit instead: Has anyone looked into this yet?

There is no information yet, wrt vfs. But keeping an eye on it to see what happens.
