My experience with iSCSI is almost nada so I thought it was time to play a bit.

Anyone tried iSCSI stuff on OpenZFS?
Does it work?
Should it work?

Which initiator did you use?

It should work. An OS X target is only available from SNS http://www.studionetworksolutions.com/g ... n-xtarget/ for the low, low price of $899.

Their initiator is "only" $89.

There are trials for both.

Another common initiator is $195.00 http://www.attotech.com/products/produc ... T-MAC0-001 which comes for free with some of their products.

There is a free initiator from Small Tree

Yeah, "should work" but should be noted that we've never tried them due to the listed prices.

istgt can be built on OS X with a minor patch. Works well as an iscsi target, I tested with file-backed (in zfs dataset) and zvol-backed targets. I'll post it as a github repo.
