No pools detected

Hi!

I am trying to wake up some old (pre-pandemic) pools, but OPenZFS can't find them. Even after updating to 2.2.2, running "sudo zpool list" gives the reply "No pools available", despite all three (they each have a hard drive cabinet) being on and connected.

Please advice.

What does "sudo zpool import" say? Some instructions here.

Do the expected disks show up in Disk Utility? Disk Utility should be able to see the underlying disks if they are connected.

My mistake. That was the output from "list", not "import".

I ran "sudo pool import" yesterday. It's still running, but has still not given any output on terminal, and the disc cabinet lights are not flashing.

AnWa, you're not going to get anywhere continuing to run ZFS commands until you've verified that your hardware is actually connected and visible to the operating system. Run Disk Utility and verify that you see disks of the expected size showing up on the expected interface (PCI, USB or whatever). You may need to select View > Show All Devices to see all the disks in the sidebar on the left.

The physical hard drives do show up in Disk Utility.

What is the output of "diskutil list"?

To keep things simple, I turned off all but one array (called "array_2") and rebooted the computer.

Under "Internal", Disk Utility lists "array_2 Media" in black as "Disk image internal physical disc", 23.94 TB, disk10

Under "External", Disk Utility lists the eight 2 TB hard drives as "array_2" (x 8) in gray as "Unknown ZFS Dataset".

Diskutil list gives the following output for the array:

Update: I reran "sudo pool import". It returned "no pools available to import", but array_2 showed up on the desktop.

I will try to repeat the process with the other pools, one by one.
