Anyway, I've done some experimentation and ruled out ZFS on Root for the time being. So I'm going to experiment with the entire user folder (for a single user, not /Users) on ZFS - including iCloud Drive. And if I have any problems, stick to just using ZFS data volumes inside my user folder on APFS.
