Problem with getting zfs event daemon working

Postby Computerguy » Tue Nov 17, 2015 10:45 am

I have an OWC thunderbay 4 connected to my mac book pro mid 2014 running EL Capitain. I went to .zfs then into the zed.d folder and I opened the zed.rc file. I put in my email address so it could send out notifications but I am not sure what else to do to get it to work. I had created a pool using "zpool create Test /dev/disk5 /dev/disk6. Then I had tried destroying the pool hoping it would send an email but it did not.

I don't think anyone has looked at getting the email stuff in zed working for O3X. Its main function at the moment is handling the zpool.cache file and the symlinks in /var/run/zfs for zvols so that we don't have to use hackery to read and write files on your hfs partition from the kernel extension.

Yes, take a look at it and see what needs to be done? You can set the ZFS environment variables by hand in a shell, then run scripts with bash -x to see what they do. From memory, I think the scripts just deliver mail to localhost.
